St. John's School FAQs

What curriculum does your school use?
Our school has adopted a curriculum that meets all of Delaware's state standards. The curriculum is under continuous review to ensure its effectiveness.

Are your teachers certified?
Yes. Our elementary teachers are certified by the state of Delaware. All the teachers have teaching degrees from an accredited university.

When does the school day begin and end?
Grades 1 through 8 are in school from 8:00 a.m. until 3:15 p.m.
Kindergarten is in session Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 3:15 p.m.
The Pre-K class meets from Noon to 3:15 pm, Monday-Friday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

How do your school's graduates perform in high school?
Our graduates have gone on to attend a variety of local high schools, both public and private, and have been successful. Many of them have been placed in honors classes.

How does a multi-grade classroom work?
A teacher in a multi-grade classroom (for instance, grades 1-3) balances direct instruction and independent student work to create an effective learning environment. All grades learn their own material and are taught to study both independently and cooperatively. Classroom visits can be scheduled to show you how this works.

Does your school have up-to-date technological equipment?
Yes, our First through Eighth Graders have in-class high-speed internet access. We also have a computer lab in a separate room. There is one computer for every six students.

How can I receive more information about your school?
Simply call (302) 738-6806 to speak to someone, or to ask for an information packet. Please ask for Mr. Andrew Monday.
