News from Mrs. Schulz

Preschool and Kindergarten

  1. Do not forget that next week Wednesday, January 23rd, we will attend the theatre in Wilmington to view the play, "Winnie the Pooh." Preschoolers, be present by 8:00 a.m. Please remember to leave your child's car seat. Thank you!

News from Miss Kroening

Grades 1-4

  1. Just a reminder: our first book report is due next Friday, January 25th. This means that your student must receive approval for his or her book by this Friday, January 18th.

  2. 1st-4th graders have a science test tomorrow, January 17th. Please help your child review using the study guide sent home earlier this week.

  3. The third graders are currently working on multiplication and need extra practice at home. Sets of multiplication cards are available and should be diligently used! Thanks for your help.

  4. Please note the attachments regarding parent teacher conferences. Second quarter report cards will be sent home February 1st. I look forward to the opportunity to sit down with each of you the following week to discuss your child's progress. The questionnaire is a helpful tool to make as much of our meeting time as possible. Please take time to fill it out and send it back in by February 1st. Notice that the conference slots are on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are no conferences available on Wednesday, February 6th, because that is Ash Wednesday and the children sing for that service. A confirmation slip for your conference will be attached to a future note.

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. Second quarter is coming quickly to an end. The last day of the quarter is next Friday, January 25th. This means, of course, that all students need to have finished two outside reading novels. Many students have already fulfilled this requirement, but there are also several needing to still complete a book or two by next Friday. Please check with your student!

News for the Whole School

  1. Do you know anyone interested in our school? Now is the time to encourage them to check it out. We will be having our winter open house Monday, January 21st, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. This is the evening of our day off to observe MLKJ Day. We will need several helpers that evening to help show visitors around our school, and we will need several helpers on Saturday, January 19th, to make the school look its best for the open house. Please check out the sign-up sheets in the hallway to see how you can help. Even if you can't make it in person to help out, certainly spread the word about St. John's!

  2. Is anyone out there an Acme shopper? If so, check out the top of your receipts and see if they qualify for 1% cash back to the school. Any receipts from store numbers 7813, 7826, 7828, 7871, and 7874 can be turned in to Mr. Monday, and the school will receive 1% back. (These are the stores on Naaman's Road, at 4720 Limestone Rd, at Rt. 7 & Valley Road, on 273 in University Plaza, and at Concord Pk. & Murphy Rd. If you shop in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, you can check with Mrs. Monday for a complete listing of participating stores.) Collecting Box Tops, Campbell's Soup points, used ink cartridges, and Zingo's receipts along with using a registered Safeway card are other great ways our school continues to receive money into the Wish List fund. Thank you for helping make so many projects, both big and small, possible around our school!

  3. The end of the quarter is next Friday, January 25th. Look for report cards on Friday, February 1st, followed by parent teacher conferences the following week.
