And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." 1 John 3:16
News from Mrs. Schulz
Preschool and Kindergarten
- Watch for your child's 100th day information this Friday, January 25th.
- Also, please note the Parent-Teacher Conference information attached to this week's newsletter.
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- Please note the attached information explaining our next book report. It is due Friday, February 8th.
- Grades 3 and 4 are starting a unit on Delaware state history. They are receiving a booklet that we will be using to record the items we have learned. At the end of the unit, the booklet will be graded, and it will be worth equal weight as the test. Please encourage your child to be faithful in her recording!
- Information regarding parent-teacher conferences. I look forward to the opportunity to sit down with each of you the first week in February to discuss your child's progress. The questionnaire is a helpful tool to make as much of our meeting time as possible. Please take time to fill it out and send it back in by February 1st. Notice that the conference slots are on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are no conferences available on Wednesday, February 6th, because that is Ash Wednesday. Watch for a confirmation slip for your conference on a future note.
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Second quarter is coming quickly to an end. The last day of the quarter is this Friday, January 25th. This means, of course, that all students need to have finished two outside reading novels. Many students have already fulfilled this requirement, but there are also several needing to still complete a book or two by next Friday. Please check with your student!
- Information regarding parent teacher conferences went home last week. I am looking forward to the opportunity to sit down with each of you the first week of February to discuss your child's progress. The questionnaire is a helpful tool to make as much of our meeting time as possible. Please take time to fill it out and send it back in by February 1st. Notice that the conference slots are on a first-come-first-serve basis. There is a master list posted outside our classroom if you prefer to know which time slots are still available. There are no conferences available on Wednesday, February 6th, because that is Ash Wednesday and the children sing for that service. A confirmation slip for your conference will be attached to a future note. Thank you to those who have already contacted me.
- Congratulations on reaching 70 points! The students have chosen a pajama and slipper day. It will be this Friday, January 25th; however, students need to come to school in their uniforms. It is required that they arrive properly dressed. They will change after our Word of God class. Please be sure your student's pajamas are appropriate: they must have pajama pants and shirts, which cannot have any writing/printed messages on them.
- It's been on your school calendar, but double check that it's on your family calendar: our class sings for Ash Wednesday for the 7:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, February 6th. That's right - Lent is just around the corner!
News for the Whole School
- The end of the quarter is this Friday, January 25th. Look for report cards next Friday, February 1st, followed by parent teacher conferences the following week.
- Game day is scheduled for Thursday, February 21st. This is a fun day for the 3-8 graders held down in Largo, MD, with the same schools that participated in the spelling bee. The students are split into two groups, 3rd-5th and 6th-8th. Each group gets to spend half the day in the gym learning some basketball skills and the other half of the day enjoying various board games. Other specifics are not yet available, but please check your calendars and see if you may be available to chaperone.
- A January Hot Lunch is available next Wednesday, January 30th for grades 1-8. The order form is attached. Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Ravitz, we will be dishing up delicious spaghetti and meatballs (plus dessert and a drink). Cost is $3.00 per student. Please sign up early.
- We are in need of a parent (or a few parents) who could pick up our pizza order on Friday mornings. This involves stopping by the school around 10:30 to pick up the payment, then driving to Costco (no need to have a membership) to pick up the pizzas, and dropping the pizzas back off at school by 11:00. If you are available, even if it's just once a month, please let Mrs. Monday know. Thank you!
