And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." 1 John 3:16
News from Mrs. Schulz
Preschool and Kindergarten
- This Friday, October 26th, is our field trip to Walnut Springs Farm. Do not forget lunches and child car seats. Preschoolers, be present by 8:00 a.m.
- On Friday, October 26th, our Fall "Party Needs" list will be available. If you would be able to help supply party food and paper products, your help would be appreciated.
- Next week Monday, October 29th, our Science Journals are due. I'm looking forward to viewing them. Thank you for your help in this matter.
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- Our class will be visiting Varlano Park this Friday, October 26th. Please be sure your child has on shoes appropriate for leaf hunting.
- Please see the attached permission slip for our upcoming field trip. It is due this Friday, October 26th.
- There is no spelling unit or hymn attached for next week due to the short week.
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Thanks to those who sang and played chimes on Sunday. Your praises to our Savior are always a nice addition to the service.
- One more reminder about outside reading books. Each student needs to complete two novels outside of our classroom reading class by the end of the quarter on October 31st. This is next week. I am happy with the number of students that have found time to complete at least their first book, but that still leave a lot of reading to be accomplished by next week. Check with your child to see what they are working on, and help them find time to complete the necessary reading.
- Our class prize, a roller skating afternoon, has been set for Wednesday, October 31st. A permission form was sent home last Friday and is due this Friday, October 26th.
News for the Whole School
- It's here! It's here! The Reformation Costume Party is here at school from 6:30-8:30 this Friday, October 26th. (Reformation is a celebration of the doctrinal reform of the church that Martin Luther set into motion on October 31st, 1517.) This party is in place of a Halloween party and will feature fun, games, and food. Come dressed in an appropriate costume and enjoy the evening! An evening like this takes lots of helpers. If you are able to bring some refreshments or are willing to help run one of the games for a 30-minute session, please see the sign-up sheet on the table in the hallway.
- Please remember to send in your Grandparents' Day address sheet if you have not already done so.
- Please note the Moms' Hot Lunch form attached today.
- Just a reminder: no school next week Thursday and Friday, November 1st and 2nd. Our teachers have an in-service day followed by a district conference in Falls Church, VA on Friday and Saturday.
- An article is attached today detailing a "superbug" that has appeared in Delaware. While the article is about a case in Dover, there has also been a case in Newark High School. The article is certainly not meant to cause undue concern, but simply to inform. There isn't anything special you should be doing to avoid this "superbug", but it may change the way you react to your child if he/she shows sudden and severe cold/flu symptoms.
- It may seem like snow is a long way off with the warm fall we have been experiencing, but please note our school closing stations just in case winter ever does arrive. : Our school closing is announced on the radio at WDEL 1150 AM and WSTW 93.7 FM. It is also posted on channel 6 ABC. Please note, although we use the Christina School district as a guideline, we DO NOT always close when they do. They have bus yards and other factors to account for that we do not have to consider.
- Picture make-up/retake day is Monday, November 19th. If your child was ill on the original Picture Day, you should use the original picture order form to order on the 19th. If you need another form, let Mr. Monday know. We will also be taking a whole school picture that day.
