News from Mrs. Schulz
Preschool and Kindergarten
- A big thank you to all parents who were able to drive and transport our children last Friday to Coleman Tree Farm. We do appreciate all your help. Thank you!
- Parents, remember to check your Preschool and Kindergarten October calendar for all necessary information.
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- The Art Fair is coming up quickly for our 1st and 2nd graders. In order to have the projects properly entered in the Fair, it is important that I know what your child intends to enter: a project you have been working on together at home, or a "back-up" project we have completed during art class. Please fill out the attached Art Fair Intentions form and return it by this Friday, October 5th. Thanks!
- Please note the pumpkin colored quarter sheet about baptism that is attached today. We are studying baptism this week, and your child needs his or her baptismal date for a small project we will be doing. Please take a moment to look up that date, then return the sheet by this Friday, October 5th. Thank you!
- There is no spelling list or hymn attached today due to the upcoming short week.
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Midterm reports went home today. Please stop in or give a call with any questions you might have. Keep up the good work!
- Please note the attached tone chimes permission slip. It is due back this Friday, October 5th.
- Keep up the outside Reading books! Each student needs to complete two novels outside of our classroom reading class by the end of the quarter on October 31st. This is coming up quickly! The books must be ones for which we have Accelerated Reading tests. This is a motivational reading program that ensures that a student has completed a book by a short, computerized, multiple-choice test. In addition to fulfilling the two book requirement, the students also earn points based on the difficulty of the book and how many questions the he or she answered correctly. Students are on reading teams in our classroom. The team with the most points at the end of the quarter along with the top point earner on each of the other teams will receive a pizza party.
- Our class has recently chosen a roller skating afternoon as their class prize. Details will follow next week.
- There are no Spelling or Geography assignments or tests next week.
News for the Whole School
- The children's praises were a wonderful addition to this past Sunday's service. Thank you to all families for your efforts to attend!
- Picture day is NOT next Monday as the calendar states. Rather, the date on the picture form, Monday, October 15th, is the date that Life Touch will be here. Order information went home last week. Any orders must be returned to school on Monday, October 15th, or your child's pictures cannot be taken. A makeup day is scheduled for November 19th for any students that are absent or need retakes. Your child (grades 1-8) should wear his or her uniform as usual on picture day, but if you would like to send a different outfit for the picture, there will be time to change.
- Please see the attached permission form for Art Fair (K-2) or Soccer Day (3-8).
- There is currently a "Wishing Well" display in the school entrance. If you are interested in helping out with some smaller items that are wished for in our school, stop in and check out how you can help!
- Miss Kroening is in search of someone who has Chutes and Ladders. She needs it as a teaching visual aide during the week of October 15-19. If you have this game and would be willing to loan it to her for a week, let her know!
- Wow! The Box Tops are really coming in! Remember that your child's name should be on the back of each Box Top so that he or she can receive credit toward individual prizes. Keep it up!
- For those of you familiar with the P.L.A.Y.S. drama group, we sadly announce that the Wizard of Oz performance last spring was St. John's last showing. Miss Sarah will be student teaching this year and then moving on to a full time position, so her schedule no longer allows for P.L.A.Y.S. We thank her for all her work the past four years!
- Remember that next week is a short week as the teachers travel to Michigan for their Teachers' Conference. Look for the Wednesday Note on Tuesday!
