News from Mrs. Schulz
Preschool and Kindergarten
- Please remember that our Picture Day date is Monday, October 15th, not yesterday as originally printed. Come dressed for your picture on Monday!
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- Remember that the Art Fair projects and summaries are due next Wednesday, October 17th. If you are completing your project at home, please refer to the pink sheet sent home with project details. In particular, your child needs to write a short summary of the Bible story that his or her project depicts. If you have chosen to use one of our "back-up" projects, I will be sending it home to have the summary written next week. Thank you!
- Next week's spelling is our first review unit. Although many if not all the words from the first 5 units are attached today, the children's tests will only consist of 20-25 of the words selected at random.
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Keep up the outside Reading books! Each student needs to complete two novels outside of our classroom reading class by the end of the quarter on October 31st. This is coming up quickly! The books must be ones for which we have Accelerated Reading tests. This is a motivational reading program that ensures that a student has completed a book by a short, computerized, multiple-choice test. In addition to fulfilling the two book requirement, the students also earn points based on the difficulty of the book and how many questions the he or she answered correctly. Students are on reading teams in our classroom. The team with the most points at the end of the quarter along with the top point earner on each of the other teams will receive a pizza party.
- Our class has recently chosen a roller skating afternoon as their class prize. Details will follow next week.
- Geography tests will be next Wednesday like usual. There is Memory Work for next Monday. Poetry final drafts and Word of God Lesson 6A are due upon arrival on Monday morning. 5th and 6th have a Brady novel test on Monday. Obviously, a significant of the days off should be spent preparing these assignments and tests. The quarter is coming to a close, so please pay close attention to keeping current with your homework.
News for the Whole School
- Picture day is next Monday. Information has already been sent home. Any orders must be returned to school on Monday, October 15th, or your child's pictures cannot be taken. A makeup day is scheduled for November 19th for any students that are absent or need retakes. Your child (grades 1-8) should wear his or her uniform as usual on picture day, but if you would like to send a different outfit for the picture, there will be time to change.
- Remember that the permission form for Art Fair (K-2) or Soccer Day (3-8) is due next Monday, October 15th. Thanks to those who have already turned theirs in!
- A big thank you to all those who selected a fish from the Wishing Well. All the fish were whisked away or spoken for in just the first week! If you have any questions about the fish you selected, let Mrs. Monday know. What blessings we have been given!
- Please note that the October edition of the Box Tops newsletter is attached today. There is also a fun sheet that your child may wish to collect his or her Box Tops on. Please continue to include your child's name on the back of each Box Top regardless of if you use the fun sheet to collect them. Thanks!
- A sheet detailing the Campbell's Soup Labels for Education is attached today. Take a look at the information to be sure we will receive credit for all the labels you send in!
- This special Tuesday edition of the Wednesday Note is due to our short week for the Michigan Teachers' Conference. Keep our teachers in your prayers for safe travels and an enriching conference!
