News from Miss Kroening

Grades 1-4

  1. Please be sure that your child has what he or she needs for our play. Each student is in charge of his or her own costume, but I intended for the costumes to be very simple - just enough so we can tell what their character is.
     
  2. There are no hymn or spelling lists attached today due to the upcoming short week.
     

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. Our class has started work on a short play that we will be putting on for Grandparents' Day. Check with your child to see if he or she needs help learning lines.
     
  2. Congratulations to Rebecca J. for completing her AR books for the second quarter already!
     
  3. 7+8 graders have three tests tomorrow - Geography, Science, and Social Studies. Please provide ample study time for them to prepare.
     
  4. By the end of this week, our class will have begun work on this year's Christmas Service. Each student will receive one copy of the service that they must keep safe and have handy at school for any possible practice day.
     
  5. Students who have November APPLE projects must have them finished and brought to school by next Monday, November 23rd. They may be emailed to me at principal@stjohnsde.org if so desired.
     
  6. Next week's Geography test will take place on Tuesday, which is earlier than usual. There will be no Geography test the week following Thanksgiving.
     

News for the Whole School

  1. Grandparents' Day invitations have been sent home. Please make sure they have also been sent off or delivered! This event is next week! We have already received some r.s.v.p.s. Check with your grandparents to see if they have already done so! Please remember that this event involves dismissal after the special Grandparents' Day hot lunch.
     
  2. Please see the attached envelope concerning the Grandparents' Day meal. We don't like to have to charge our special guests for our fun dinner together, but we do ask you to consider donating to cover the costs. We suggest $3 per person attending.
     
  3. Please note that our Picture Retake Day has been rescheduled for Monday, November 30th. Please ask Mr. Monday for a picture order form.
     
  4. Attached is the winter edition of Crosslinks, a WELS publication for Christian parents.
     
  5. Attached is information about YMCA winter indoor soccer and basketball leagues.
     
  6. St. John's students have been offered free H1N1 flu shots from Maxim Health Systems through Delaware Health and Social Services.. If you are interested, please let Mr. Monday know by this Friday, November 20th, so that he can register our school. You can stop in or return the attached half sheet.
