News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. Christmas Service recitations should be happening every night at home from now until December 18th. Our class should be reciting at home to parents or older siblings and should get their sheet signed nightly. Please plan time in the evening to hear their parts in preparation for our worship service.

  2. Getting an AR test done before Christmas is a great plan! That would leave only one more book for after Christmas. Keep up the good reading.

News for the Whole School

  1. We are currently in the Advent season during which we eagerly await our Savior's birth. Too often, this time of year becomes crazily hectic, and we can easily loose sight of the real purpose to all of our activities - Christ's birth! St. John's offers Wednesday evening Advent services during December. Please seriously consider attending, as these worship services offer a time to pause and reflect on Jesus' quiet coming. The short service begins at 7:00 p.m. You are also invited to join us for a soup and sandwich supper that runs from 5:15-6:45. Hope to see you all there!

  2. We are very pleased to announce that Mrs. Cottman has accepted the divine call to teach at St. John's next school year. Please be sure to stop by her room and express your joy at this great gift to our school.

  3. Mr. Monday and Mrs. Cottman have decided to have a joint Christmas gift exchange this year. The name your child drew came home today. Please remember that this is a SURPRISE and should be kept to around $5. Gifts should be brought on the day of our party, December 23rd.

  4. Please plan in advance for our Children's Christmas Service AND the final practice on Sunday, December 20th starting at 9:00 a.m. It is necessary for everyone to attend this final practice since it will be the only time that both the school and church Sunday school students will practice jointly. The actual Christmas service is Wednesday, December 23rd at 6:30 p.m. Please remember that the children are presenting God's Word in a worship setting, but not as a show. We request that families and guests refrain from using photography during the service. We encourage photos before and after the service. Thank you for passing this along to family and friends in attendance.

  5. In previous years, we have enjoyed some light refreshments following the Children's Christmas Service. We would like to do so again this year. However, due to our smaller class sizes, we are simply leaving it up to the parents to bring whatever they see fit rather than listing "needed" items to cover a particular amount of refreshments. Please consider bringing an item or two to share so that we can once again enjoy some social time complete with tasty treats following the service this year.

  6. Our classes will be having little Christmas parties on our half day, Wednesday, December 23rd. If you would like to send in a snack to share with the class, please do so. We would like to suggest that perhaps you could send a small plate to share with the class along with a larger plate intended to be served that evening following the Children's Christmas Service.
