News from Mrs. Schulz

Preschool and Kindergarten

  1. Preschoolers, please remember that this Friday, December 21st, you must arrive by 8:00 a.m. and school will end at 11:30 a.m. This is so that we can have our final Christmas service rehearsal and our class “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” party.

  2. Also, all children, please remember that you need to arrive by 5:30 this Friday evening, December 21st, for our Children’s Christmas service.

  3. May you all have a safe and blessed Christmas

News from Miss Kroening

Grades 1-4

  1. Congratulations to our class for reaching 100 points! As our prize we will be going to Varlano tomorrow, Thursday, December 20th. Please plan to dress warmly, and feel free to send along a different set of clothes to change into for our playtime at the park.

  2. Just a reminder: our Christmas party is this Friday, December 21st. Please remember to send in your child's exchange gift (names were sent home last week) and any food you would like to share with the class. There is a sign up sheet outside our classroom if you would like to check which food items are already being brought.

  3. You've all probably been on the edge of your seat wondering: what is Miss Kroening's Christmas wish? Don't worry - it's an easy one: for all my students to have pencils each day in class. : Please check that you child has a steady supply of pencils. It's amazing how quickly they go through them! If you would prefer to send a supply of quarters with your child, I can supply them with pencils at school in exchange for quarters. Thank you!

  4. Please note that January's Memory Treasure calendar is attached today.

  5. Terra Nova test results are included for all 3+4 graders. Please see the attached letter and the "Home Report".

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. If you haven't already signed up for a Christmas Party refreshment for Friday, please do so today using the sign-up sheet outside our classroom entrance. If you bring in your refreshments before Friday, please label them "Mr. Monday's class".

  2. All 5-8 graders have memory work on Monday, January 7th, the day we return. Please help your child in their Christian education by setting aside time over the break to spend with their Bible passages.

  3. Each student also has Lesson 14 in their Word of God books to complete over the Christmas vacation. This lesson is six pages long and will probably take 45-60 minutes to complete thoroughly. Once again, help your child spend time in the Word.

  4. Terra Nova test results (standardized tests) are included for all 5-8 graders. Please see the attached letter and the "Home Report".

News for the Whole School

  1. The season of Advent is almost over! St. John's will be celebrating with a final special Wednesday evening service. Come, join us for a soup and sandwich supper beginning at 5:30 and the worship service at 7:00. Take time out of this often hectic season and prayerfully prepare your hearts for the coming of our Savior!

  2. Just a reminder that our Children's Christmas Service is this Friday, December 21st, at 6:00 p.m. Your entire family and all friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Please remember that the service is indeed a worship service, so out of respect for the Lord and those worshipping around you, please refrain from flash photography during the service. Children should arrive by 5:30. Feel free to use some of this time to take pictures with friends before the service rather than during the service.

  3. Grades 3-8, we have not yet received final details (departure time, schedule, etc.) about the Spelling Bee that will be held in Falls Church, VA, on Wednesday, January 16th. A permission slip with details will be sent home once that information arrives. However, parents, please check your calendars now and see if you might be able to chaperone, and students, keep looking over the word lists sent home a few weeks ago.

  4. Following school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Mr. Monday will have a "lost and found" table set up so students can reclaim their own misplaced items. If an item is yours, you are welcome to having it back. If an item is not yours, please leave it for its proper and rightful owner to claim.
