"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." 1 John 3:16
News from Mrs. Schulz
Preschool and Kindergarten
- Parents, do not forget that next week Friday, December 14th, permission forms and fee for our January field trip are due.
- Thank you to parents for driving and serving as chaperones for our Christmas caroling at the Care Center in New Jersey.
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- A green sheet was sent home last week with all the memory treasures for this month. You may have noticed that there are two hymns included on the green sheet that are not assigned on the memory treasures calendar. These are the hymns we will be singing as we walk into and out of the church at the beginning and end of the service. We will be working on them some in class, but I would appreciate your help in occasionally going through them with your child, even though they are not assigned. Thank you!
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Please note the permission slip the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base is due back this Friday, December 7th. Please help us as a chaperone/driver if you can. Thanks to those who have already returned theirs. Our tour begins at 10:30, so drivers should be ready for a 9:30 departure.
- 2nd Quarter Midterms will be sent home on Friday with each upper grade student. Please view and discuss it with them.
- I'm trying something new with the Christmas service parts for our class. In your child's "Not Done/Take Home" folder is a signature sheet with the Christmas service parts that each child must memorize for our service on December 21st. Your child should recite each part to you every evening that the sheet lists. There are eight evenings of recitation per part. In addition to their assignment notebook getting signed each evening, you need to sign their Christmas service sheet for each part recited. This will give you an opportunity to help teach them the Word of God in your home. As a parent, this is your top priority in your relationship with your child. It can certainly be an enjoyable time to share in the evenings seeing your son or daughter grow in their knowledge and faith as we all celebrate the gift of Christ Jesus.
News for the Whole School
- A big thank you to all our drivers for caroling! The residents of the nursing home greatly enjoyed the visit!
- The season of Advent is here! St. John's will be celebrating the season of Advent with special Wednesday evening services the next three Wednesdays. Come, join us for a soup and sandwich supper beginning at 5:30 and the worship service at 7:00. Take time out of this often hectic season and prayerfully prepare your hearts for the coming of our Savior!
- It's on your school calendar, but double check that it's also already on your busy Christmas family calendar: our Children's Christmas Service is Friday evening, December 21st, at 6:00. All children must attend this service. This is a wonderful opportunity that your children have to share the message of our Savior's birth. Bring the family and enjoy their proclamation of this priceless news!
- Some of you have a note attached to this Wednesday note telling you of some school portrait options. If you asked for a retake of your child's picture, you should have an attached note. If you don't have a note attached and had retakes, please see Mr. Monday immediately to receive the information.
