News from Mrs. Cottman

Grades 1-4

  1. Our next Science Fair checkpoint is due on Friday, March 19th. All students need to have their data completed and brought in for me to check. YOUR DATA IS YOUR EXPERIMENT! This means that the experiment must be completed by March 18th. That is about two weeks from now. This is not a step that can be completed in one short evening, so please, don't wait!

  2. Yes, we are approaching the end of winter and (hopefully) the end of cold season…but our tissue supply is not going to make it to see the end. 9 Please send in two more boxes of tissues so that our supply can serve us faithfully until the end of the year. Thanks!

  2. Our 3rd quarter is soon over. Some of you have AR books to complete. Remember that you can take a test on Rules, our most recent read aloud book.

  3. We are in need of more tissues! Please send two more boxes. That should last us for the remainder of the school year. Thank you.

News for the Whole School

  1. Tonight is another opportunity to contemplate the suffering our Savior went through for our sins. St. John's has a special Lenten service beginning at 7:00 p.m. that you are all invited and encouraged to attend. There is also a soup and sandwich supper beginning around 5:15 (or whenever you can arrive.

  2. The Battle of the Books event at Grace Lutheran School in Falls Church, VA was AWESOME! It was amazing that both teams won their division! We only had one team from our school in each division against seven teams from the other schools. It was incredible to see all our kids working as a focused team. We can't say enough about the performance of our dedicated readers. We are extremely proud of all of you. We haven't won any District team events for a long time, and our students gave us two big victories. We would like to have a bit of a celebration party this Friday afternoon. Since Holes was a book on both divisions' lists, we will watch the movie Holes. If your child wishes to bring a snack, that would be fine.

  3. Thanks also to our many drivers who made attending the Battle of the Books competition possible!

  4. Please return your re-enrollment materials as soon as it is possible. Our re-enrollment period started on March 1st. We are happy to have each of our current families return next year.
