News from Miss Kroening

Grades 1-4

  1. It's hard to believe, but it's already the end of 3rd quarter this Friday. That means that report cards will go home Friday, April 11th, and parent teacher conferences will follow during the week of April 15th-18th. As always, I look forward to this time to sit down and chat about your child's progress. Please see the attached sheet to sign up for your desired conference time. Please notice that there is no school on Monday, April 14th, as the teachers will be visiting other classrooms to gain teaching strategies for our own use. Conference slots are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so send in your sheet as soon as possible.

  2. As you will find elsewhere in this note, school has been cancelled this Friday, April 3rd. This affects a few items for our classroom that were due this Friday. Please take note:
    * The students will recite their Thursday Memory Treasures as scheduled. The hymn that was due on Friday (105) is no longer due at all. If you child has already put in some effort on this hymn, he or she is welcome to recite it on Monday for extra credit.
    * Our spelling test will be moved up to Thursday.
    * The Science Fair checkpoint will be moved up to Thursday. If you find it impossible to complete the checkpoint without the extra day, your student may turn it in on Monday, but the extra time should guarantee stellar work.

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. The next Science Fair checkpoint is now due TOMORROW because of Friday's funeral. Please have your recorded data for me to check as indicated in the packet.

  2. Many students have made progress on their outside reading novels, but several have at least one more book to complete. The quarter ends tomorrow.

  3. This week marks the end of 3rd quarter. Report cards will be sent home next Friday, April 11th, followed by parent teacher conferences the following week. Conferences serve as a great opportunity to look at your child's progress to this point. The attached sign up sheet is due by next Wednesday, April 8th. Stop by our classroom to check out the master list if you would like to know which time slots remain available.

  4. For those of you who have been keeping an eye on the school calendar, you know our class is scheduled to play tone chimes this Sunday, April 6th. This will not be happening. However, we are planning to play for confirmation during the 11:00 service on Sunday, May 18th. Please see the attached permission form.

News for the Whole School

  1. Due to a memorial service being held at St. John's this Friday, April 3rd, school has been cancelled. Please see the attached sheet for more information.

  2. A permission slip regarding our whole school field trip to the Kimmel Center to see the play Wizard of Oz was sent home before Easter. It is due tomorrow, Thursday, April 2nd. This field trip will take up the majority of the school day for all classrooms. Students must be in attendance for the school day and the play. We have a few drivers, but still need more. Check your schedule and see if you can help out while enjoying a fun performance. We still have 21 students in need of a ride and 8 extra tickets for drivers to purchase.

  3. This week is the last of 3rd quarter. Thanks to all for their hard work. Look for report cards next Friday, April 11th.
