News from Mrs. Schulz

- Please remember that our Science Fair is this Friday evening, April 25th. The kindergartners need to be present by 6:25 p.m. to present the science projects we have been working on the past several weeks.
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- Our field trip to Winterthur is next Tuesday, April 29th. The permission slip and fee is due this Friday, April 25th. We need to be able to finalize our numbers with Winterthur, so your child's form needs to be in this Friday. Please note, NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED! Thank you!
- There is no spelling or hymn attached today because of the short week next week. Watch for a Tuesday note next week.
- The new Memory Treasure calendar is attached today. Please note that June is on the back! Please also take note that our class is singing in the 11:00 service on Sunday, May 18th. This is a change from the school calendar that went out this past summer.
News from Mr. Monday

News for the Whole School
- Our Science Fair is this Friday, April 25th, at 6:30 p.m. Students need to bring their projects to school Friday morning and then plan to stay for several minutes after school to set up their display. Students will then need to arrive at the Fair and be by their project by 6:25 for the judges to view their work. Come see what our students have learned from their experiments and research during the past several months. Bring the family and check it out!
- We have received word back from Miss Steffenhagen. She has been prayerfully considering the call to serve as our preschool and kindergarten teacher next year. After much deliberation, she has decided that she can best serve our Lord at this time by staying at her current calling in Illinois. Our prayers are with her as she continues her ministry there. This means that St. John's will be receiving a college graduate in the middle of May. We eagerly wait to hear who our new teacher will be!
- Remember that there is NO SCHOOL next Wednesday through Friday. Our teachers have a conference scheduled in the Annapolis area.
- Out next Open House is Sunday May 4th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, May 5th, from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Spread the word about our school. If you know someone who may be interested, encourage them to visit during the Open House. Sunday is a time designed for visitors to be able to chat with teachers, while Monday morning provides an opportunity for families to see our classrooms in action. Certainly keep St. John's in your prayers that God may continue to bless our school with more children to share His Word with!
- Re-enrollment packets for the 2008-09 school year went home about two months ago. Thank you to those who have already re-enrolled or who have declared their intentions to re-enroll. Please continue praying for St. John's in the upcoming year. Sign-up soon to receive a great free gift!
- Thank you to Mrs. Ravitz and Mrs. Cotter for a great hot lunch today!
- Please start making plans for Field Day, Friday, May 9th in Largo, MD. This event is a great family day of foot races and field activities. Note that if you plan on buying a lunch, the attached form needs to be returned by next Tuesday, April 29th.
- There are only a few more Friday morning chapel opportunities! As always, parents are invited to join us for this special worship opportunity at the beginning of each Friday. Please remember that the little yellow envelopes that are attached to this note each Friday are for any offerings your child may wish to give to share God's Word with others. The first semester offerings totaled about $275 and went to Martin Luther School in Czech Republic. The second semester offerings will go to New Beginnings, a Christian Home for expectant single mothers in special need. New Beginnings' purpose is to give these mothers options other than abortion, so the home helps new mothers gain parenting skills and offers support for education and job training. If the mother wishes, New Beginnings helps find a loving adoptive home for her new baby. What a blessing this home is in our society where the new lives of little babies are often times given no value!
