News from Mrs. Schulz

  1. Your new preschool and kindergarten calendar will be coming home next week. Please check it for important reminders!

News from Miss Kroening

Grades 1-4

  1. Third and fourth graders have a science test next Thursday, May 8th. Look for a study guide next Tuesday.

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. Now that the Science Fair is completed, please plan to finish your outside reading books promptly. We are doing a one-on-one competition for the 4th quarter. Only a few students have been able to finish any outside reading up to this point. Use the days off wisely!

  2. Our classroom currently contains a baby bottle that is intended to collect spare change for New Beginnings (see below to learn more about New Beginnings). Any change gathered in the bottle will be matched by an outside group as part of a project that St. John's participates in. The bottle will be turned in on Mother's Day, so if your child wishes to bring in a few coins, please do so now!

  3. Attached is a special invitation to Mike Knosky's 12th birthday party on Saturday, June 7th (the day after school lets out for the summer). Please RSVP using the information provided and join in to celebrate the beginning of summer at Mike's birthday party.

News for the Whole School

  1. This special Tuesday edition of the Wednesday Note is due to the short week. Remember that there is NO SCHOOL this Wednesday through Friday. Our teachers have a conference scheduled in the Annapolis area.

  2. Our next Open House is Sunday May 4th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, May 5th, from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Spread the word about our school. If you know someone who may be interested, encourage them to visit during the Open House. Sunday evening is a time designed for visitors to be able to chat with teachers, while Monday morning provides an opportunity for families to see our classrooms in action. Certainly keep St. John's in your prayers that God may continue to bless our school with more children to share His Word with!

  3. Re-enrollment packets for the 2008-09 school year went home about two months ago. Thank you to those who have already re-enrolled or who have declared their intentions to re-enroll. Please continue praying for St. John's in the upcoming year. Sign-up soon to receive a great free gift!

  4. Please start making plans for Field Day, Friday, May 9th in Largo, MD. This event is a great family day of foot races and field activities. If you plan on purchasing any lunches but did not yet turn in a form, please call Mr. Monday tonight! A final count needs to be reported at the teachers' conference later this week.

  5. There are only a few more Friday morning chapel opportunities! As always, parents are invited to join us for this special worship opportunity at the beginning of each Friday. Please remember that the little yellow envelopes that are attached to this note each Friday are for any offerings your child may wish to give to share God's Word with others. The first semester offerings totaled about $275 and went to Martin Luther School in Czech Republic. The second semester offerings will go to New Beginnings, a Christian Home for expectant single mothers in special need. New Beginnings' purpose is to give these mothers options other than abortion, so the home helps new mothers gain parenting skills and offers support for education and job training. If the mother wishes, New Beginnings helps find a loving adoptive home for her new baby. What a blessing this home is in our society where the new lives of little babies are often times given no value!
