News from Mrs. Cottman

Grades 1-4

  1. 1. We have book reports due both next week and our following final week. Please make sure your child has selected his or her books.

News from Mr. Monday

Grades 5-8

  1. Our 4th quarter AR book competition is coming to a quick close. In two weeks, the required score goes up. Please make sure your child is achieving the required number of books in a quality effort.

  2. The 7th and 8th grade Reading class is currently working on a novel quilt project similar to what Rebecca Johnson created in October. Each 7th and 8th grader will have quilt squares to complete on a regular basis over the next two weeks. Each quilt square assigned must be completed by the following day or the whole class loses a day on the project. If it is your child's night to complete a quilt square or two, please make especially sure that it gets completed and returned the following day.

  3. If any illnesses occur during these last few weeks, please complete any make-up work double quick so that no assignments lag to the last week.

News for the Whole School

  1. In March, each of our families received a re-enrollment packet for the 2010-11 school year. We would like you to return your re-enrollment forms and fees as soon as possible since we are in full swing of preparing for next year. Returning your re-enrollment forms and fees soon will also allow Mr. Monday to instruct our remaining staff and new assistants through the process while he is still at St. John's, which will make things easier for all of us.

  2. Arbor Day is scheduled for Friday, May 14th, after lunch. Students should bring work clothes to change into and any gardening tools that you may have. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. An extra incentive to join us: after our work is completed, we will be playing the St. John's Minute to Win It. For those of you who have seen the tv show, you know we will have lots of laughs attempting to complete various goofy games. Come try your hand at random feats of concentration and luck!

  3. Bring in those Box Tops! The final date to turn in Box Tops for our competition is next Friday, May 21st. This will allow time for them to be tabulated so that we can award prizes in the final week of school.

  4. The last day of school is just around the corner! Our closing picnic will be held, as usual, at 11:30 following dismissal of the students for the summer. This year it is a bit closer - just down the road in Salem Woods at Weis Park. Mark your calendars!
