And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." 1 John 3:16

Preschool and Kindergarten
- Today our field trip permission forms and fee of $6 are due. If you have not yet sent your child's form and fee please do so by the end of the day. Please also remember to check your preschool and kindergarten calendars regularly, as well as this weekly newsletter, for all necessary information such as this. Due to the fact that your children and I are usually busy with our various morning activities, I do not always have the opportunity to find you and remind you of our schedule and deadlines. Thanks you for your help!
News from Miss Kroening
Grades 1-4
- It's Terra Nova Testing time again! Grades 3 and 4 will be taking their standardized tests next week. Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep and breakfast to start each day so that they can perform to their highest potential!
- Please remember to check your child's backpack each evening. Any homework and important communications from school will be in there. Thanks!
- The first Science test of the year for grades 1-4 is next Thursday, September 26th. Look for a review sheet next Tuesday that will help you aid your child in studying.
- Information on the Art Fair for grades 1 and 2 went home today. We will be doing a few "back-up" projects in school, but I really encourage you to help your child create a project outside of school. The subject of the art projects this year, Bible stories, has so many possibilities that you will be sure to come up with something your child will enjoy. You may even learn something new about what your child's favorite Bible story is. :
News from Mr. Monday
Grades 5-8
- Thank you to all the drivers for our field trip today. Your help is greatly appreciated. The next opportunity to help chaperone will probably be Game Day in December in Maryland. Details will come several weeks in advance.
- Several of our classmates have had trouble committing enough time to their daily memory work. Please set aside at least 15 minutes each day for your child to give their undivided attention in a quiet environment to learning these sections of God's Word. Also, insist that they use the car ride to school in the morning to review what they memorized the night before. Commitment to learning these Bible passages is a foundation to every Christian's faith.
- I have been impressed with our class's Geography tests this year. Keep putting in the quality study time.
- Just a reminder to parents - you can be a big support to the success of your child's education by reviewing their assignment notebook each night, asking your child about the school day, and checking their homework in subjects that you know they struggle in. Consistent assistance is the key to making these strategies work. Without daily support from you, their education will not be complete.
News for the Whole School
- ATTENTION ALL NEW FAMILIES!! Pastor Schulz hosts three "Appetizer Classes" every September to acquaint parents with what our church and school believe, teach, and want your child to believe also. These classes will also serve as a kind of training course in how to talk about Biblical matters at home with your whole family. Christian training begins in the home, and these classes are a great way to learn how! All new families should attend these classes. Each class lasts for about an hour. The final class is tonight! Dates are September 5,12, and 19 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Both parents are encouraged to attend, but that might not always be possible. If you cannot attend any of these dates, you should speak with Pastor Schulz to set up an alternate time.
- Sunday, September 30th is our school's first singing date. All students will be singing in our late church service. Please arrive at church no later than 10:40 a.m. If you are unable to make this singing date, please notify your child's teacher by the end of this week.
- Oops lunches are now available. If your child forgets his or her lunch, they can receive a package of cheese crackers, applesauce and a drink. You will then receive a little note letting you know your child was tided over by this scrumptious little lunch : and reminding you to send in $1.00 to cover the cost. These are certainly not meant for everyday purchase, but they do serve their purpose on those days when "oops" happens!
- The treat table is back! In the next few days, the treat table should be up and running. Various snack are available for 25¢ and 50¢ after school. Hopefully it will be open five days a week this year. Thanks to the parents who will be manning it!
- Have you noticed!? Perhaps you have observed that an incredible amount of work was done around the school this summer. Among many smaller projects around the school, three major items were completed. The siding around the entire building was cleaned and stained, the carpeting throughout the school was replaced, and the men's restroom was repainted. (Ladies, we'll get to yours someday. : ) A big "Thank you!" goes out to the many people who pitched in, in particular, a few our school parents, Mr. Eastburn, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Bertelsen and Mr. Buetterich. We thank the Lord for all His blessings!
- Please remember to watch your speed in the parking lot when dropping off and picking up your child. What seems slow to you in the car may not always seem slow to those walking. Thanks!
